Last night I got to help at church. Either because of an oversight, or they just don't have enough qualified (Equipping bases) volunteers to cover the summer youth service, I get to help. I'm not doing much, just ushering for crowds not big enough to need ushers, but I'm doing something. It felt like coming home.
Now I wanted to make sure I made a good impression, so I turned up a little early, which considering that things were running a little late there, ended up being a lot early and got to listen to the end of the musos' practice. Listening to the musos practice had to be one of my favourite things as an intern and that hasn't changed. We prayed and then split into our groups to get instructions and pray as our individual groups. I loved that even though we were running out of time, everyone in the group wanted to pray. It was the first night and people didn't turn up and other people did, so it was a bit of a mess, but when it came down to it, everything seemed to go off without a hitch.
Coastal has an official Volunteer Coordinator as I found out, so hopefully one of these days, I will get a chance to find out what he does exactly and how his position works. He also had a cool radio headset that was hooked in to the other key people. Very cool.
I can't wait until next week, or until I am next rostered on. This is the stuff that makes getting up everyday and going to a job that makes me feel like I am slowly turning to grey worthwhile. It's the only thing I've found so far.

Radio Headsets are very cool. You always feel very important when you are wearing one. I want one, even though I have no one to talk to
